Chinese automaker Changan has formally unveiled its newest Nevo A06 sedan, which will be available in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) configurations.
The highlight of the Nevo A06 is its state-of-the-art 6C battery, which the company says can recharge at an impressive pace of up to 0.62 miles per second, delivering one of the swiftest charging performances in its category. Built on Changan’s SDA (Super DNA) architecture, the Nevo A06 is marketed as a mid-to-large sedan, blending roominess with contemporary electric vehicle technology.
The model is anticipated to reach dealerships later this year, offering a competitive choice for buyers seeking both capability and flexibility in the EV market.
BEV and EREV variants with multiple battery options
The Changan Nevo A06 provides flexible powertrain selections to suit various driving preferences. The BEV model is offered in high- and low-output trims, with the high-output version producing 282 hp (210 kW) and the low-output version delivering 161 hp (120 kW). Customers can select from three lithium iron phosphate battery capacities – 42.12 kWh, 51.48 kWh, and 63.18 kWh – yielding estimated ranges of 261 miles, 317 miles, and 391 miles under CLTC metrics.
The high-output BEV sprints from 0 to 37 mph (0–60 km/h) in six seconds and uses an 800V high-voltage SiC architecture.
The EREV model combines a 1.5L naturally aspirated 97 hp (72 kW) engine as a range extender with a 120 kW motor and a 28.39 kWh battery, delivering a WLTC pure-electric range of 112 miles (180 km), making it a sensible option for extended journeys. At the 6C ultra-rapid charging rate, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in only 9 minutes, and from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes.
Additionally, the Nevo A06’s roof houses a lidar unit, supported by three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 cameras, enabling Level 2 advanced driver assistance capabilities.
Entry-level EV range with growing market success
Changan’s Nevo lineup represents the brand’s entry-level electric vehicle series, launched in 2023. The initial range comprises the A05 and A06 compact sedans, as well as the A07 midsize sedan. The A06 is essentially a refreshed Changan UNI-V, featuring revised front and rear treatments, while the A05 is a rebadged Changan Yida with comparable styling revisions.
Signaling rising momentum, last year Changan reported that its monthly new energy vehicle (NEV) sales topped 100,000 units in November 2024, the first time the company reached this milestone.
The achievement reflects increasing consumer demand for affordable and pragmatic EVs, and Changan intends to broaden the Nevo range with additional models, expanded battery choices, and upgraded technologies, aiming to bolster its footprint and secure a bigger slice of the global electric vehicle market.
